Ask Mel

Hello, I'm Mel.

Mel Iverach, Ask Mel, Bathurst

The short version

I've always loved solving problems. But in businesses, problems don't usually exist in isolation. Offering unsolicited advice and finding solutions to problems that weren't only mine led me from train guard in the Sydney Olympics to leading large-scale transformation and a $600 million technology portfolio for the state's largest transport agency.

The single thread running through it is understanding entire, complex systems and making every moving part work smoothly for the everyday people using them.

An AI tool in isolation isn't going to fix a broken system. Real leverage comes when AI is built around your whole business, so that entire workflows, from the first customer enquiry to the final invoice, run the way they should.

Now I design and build those systems for the businesses around me: a real strategic partner, without the corporate jargon or the city price tag.

Why now

Technology was supposed to make work easier. For a lot of us it has done the reverse.

More tools, more software, more features - days spent fumbling as we switch between systems. Manually entering data into multiple places. Writing different versions of the same information for your team, for a client, for your boss. It's exhausting, and for a lot of us it's become normal.

Modern technology like AI has changed what work can look like. A micro-tool or a connected system can now be built quickly to fit the exact way you want to work, with almost nothing new to learn and nothing to fight against.

That's why I've walked away from corporate life: to solve real problems for the businesses around me, and give people back the time technology was supposed to save them.

The way I work

  • Start with the problem

If we work together, we'll spend most of our time talking about your business and what you want to achieve. Technology comes in if it's the right way to solve a problem you have.

  • AI is not for everything

If AI won't genuinely help your business, I will tell you that in our first conversation. That conversation costs you nothing.

  • You own your business

I love architecting and building complete systems for my clients, but you control the pace and the roadmap. Every project comes with full documentation, team training, and complete ownership of your tools and logins. I want to work with you long term because I keep finding ways to improve your business, not because you're locked into a system only I can run.
